The irony is making Vijay Varma chuckle uncontrollably. The actor, who graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), made fun of Gajendra Chauhan, the previous chairman of the organization, for saying last week that he was “proud” of director Payal Kapadia following her historic victory at Cannes for her film All We Imagine As Light. One of the students who went on strike in 2015 in opposition to Chauhan's selection as the chairperson of the Pune-based Film and Television Institute of India was Kapadia. "Congratulations to her and I feel proud that I was the chairman at the time when she was doing the course there," Chauhan said in an interview with PTI. The irony was quickly pointed out by many, and the message went viral.
